- First, let it be known that that is not a picture of your mid-section.
- Those jeans are cute, though.
- You've noticed a lot, a LOT, of the blogs you read are talking about losing weight.
- You lost weight.
- You might have some insight for them regarding the process.
- For instance, you've read about people looking at pictures of themselves, and wondering how they got bigger than they wanted to be.
- You know about this.
- You have those pictures, and no one told you when you were getting heavier.
- Except Granny -- she was the only one brave enough to say: "Vanessa, you're getting fat."
- Unfortunately, it didn't really bring about change.
- It didn't hurt your feelings, either, because you knew Granny, but you don't think there's any way for anyone else to say something like that without it being incredibly insulting.
- You might want to let those that are losing weight know that they will never have that problem again.
- Because everyone will have something to say about their weight loss.
- Sometimes it's genuinely complimentary.
- Other times it's, "Oh my gosh! You look great!" through gritted teeth.
- And sometimes it's, "You're too skinny!"
- Sometimes, when you're out with friends and you're losing or have lost weight, people will roll their eyes if you turn down something yummy.
- You wonder if they realize it was moderation and self-control that assisted in the actual weight loss or the maintenance of it.
- It's all worth it though.
- You feel better.
- You're more active.
- You feel more attractive.
- Your self-esteem improves.
- Other things improve because of feeling more attractive and improved self-esteem.
- Other things that increased energy and stamina can benefit from.
- Tell Kim and Winn to relax, you're not going to say sex.
- Oops.

HAhaha - I always found it interesting that no one told me I was gaining weight until I started LOSING it. Cause that makes sense...
Congrats on your weight loss!
My mother used to tell me that I was getting fat back in college- at 5'4", if I went over 100 pounds. *Shakes head in disgust*
And p.s. NO I don't just weigh 100 pounds. LOL
i don't talk about weight loss. i have no moderation or self control. and i like it. so does my husband. especially when the stethoscope is out.
that's what happens when you bold the s-e-x word.
Wow, all your points are so on point. Why is it that some people cannot be happy when we lose weight - I'm guessing jealousy. I certainly feel better, more active, more attractive, and yes more self-esteem has come to roost with me.
Awesome. Thanks you.
ok what's the whole not say sex thing kim and winn? ha ha! funny how that is the one thing that caught my attention!
I'm so tired of this trying to lose weight....I've been behaving so I can wait to get some chocolate for Valentine's and if he doesn't get it for me I'll buy it for myself!:)Hehe!
love this post, especially being someone who has "fluctuated" in weight. Lost as much as 60 lbs and worked at a weight loss center as a counselor, and ripped the butt of my pants in front of my client...
Oh thank you for using that picture of me and my awesome midsection!
AAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAA! *wiping eyes*
I did arm curls w/o telling my arms last night.
And I lost 2 pounds. Well, when I let go of the hand weights, I lost two pounds...sigh.
*bleaching eyes*
Losing weight (and subsequently gaining it back, only to lose again) is a vicious cycle. My least favorite is when the people who most want you to lose the weight berate you for then going and losing TOO MUCH! It's like, MAKE UP YOUR MIND!
Your comment on my page made me laugh-- I'll have to remember the picture and the red marker next time!

Confessions From A Working Mom
i am trying to lose weight...sort of. a work out a bit, watch what i eat a bit. i've got about 30 pounds to lose and find that people will always have something to say--skinny, fat, big boobs, saggy butt, they'll find a way to fit it into the conversation.
thanks for stopping by and following today--following you right back!
I agree with Tiffany. Doesn't it seem like people ALWAYS have something to say?? I love the whole "you're too skinny thing"...well, good!!
I'm a chronic yo-yo'er. Lose 20, gain 40 kinda deal. Lather, rinse, repeat into obesity.
"Great idea, you will love having this to look back on! I need to do this before I forget everything about my pregnancies -- I am 99.9% sure the girls will want to hear about it! :-D"
Thanks! I am excited that I could remember it all! haha! I am glad I will have it to look back on. I am sure your girls would love to hear it! Especially when they are older and have their own kids! My mom doesn't remember much about her pregnancies, and everyone says a lot of symptoms run in the family, but so far it seems me and my mom had very different pregnancies!
About the weight thing... ah what a subject. Before I was pregnant, I realized I had gained 30 lbs in a very short amount of time this year. No matter how many times I worked out I was not losing any I kept gaining. I finally went to the Dr. and found out it was because I had hypothyroidism. Now that I am on medication for it I am hoping after the baby I can lose some the weight I gained before the baby from the thyroid thing. I hated myself for awhile, but it helped to know that is was because of my thyroid not me pigging out! haha God luck with you if you are trying lose weight! :)
that is awesome... seriously!
I get slightly obsessed about losing baby-weight but I feel so great when I get back down to a healthy size... it is worth it!!
Love ur blog! =) Lily
Congrats on the weight loss & happy V day!

My Grams can totes tell me I'm fat too! Actually, she would call me a lard ass.
But I still feel very connected right now.
Also, wtf, when you lose weight and look good and then people tell you you're too skinny. gerh. I hate that.
haha! Thanks for this! I needed that!! :)
We use a humidifier now and then, but only when G is congested. We did use it EVERY night her first winter, though!
Thanks for stopping by earlier!

Confessions From A Working Mom
We lost does seem to be a hot topic amongst women. I talk to ma hubby about it sometimez. Blogs are getting popular in that subject as well but as for me I am just a workoutaholic! I enjoy it but at the sametime I eat what I wanna eat too. Even tho ma hubby tells me he would love me either way and thats fine but I am such a clean freak and busy body that I really couldn't pack on a big amount of pounds because I love to clean and cleaning burns SO MUCH calories. In closing tho whether a female is big or skinny I say whatever size you are....EMBRACE IT because sexy is what YOU make of it not what n e one else does! Be Blessed!
