Better late than never...

I know Leigh vs. Laundry's Happiness Project runs on Tuesdays, but I was happily bragging on someone's man for my Super Man of the Month yesterday.  However, I have some happy I still want to share...

That's one of my pictures from the butterfly exhibit at our zoo.
I do love butterflies, but that's not really what this picture is all about.

See, to me, a butterfly has always represented freedom.

The Husband and I are beginning to experience a particular freedom in our house.

DIAPERS!!!

So I know I tend to stick to things that are outside of the world of mommyhood, but HELLO!  We're talking about being done with diapers here!  (But not wipes, because as far as I'm concerned I will always have wipes in the house and carry them with me.  They're just so useful!)  My BFF and I were talking about it, and we think that a child being potty trained is a bigger deal than walking!  Yeah, really!  Because let's face it, when they start walking they can just get into more trouble!  There is no downside to being potty trained!  And personally, I think potty training itself is like a dirty little secret that moms don't talk about!  It's like the first 6-8 weeks after you had your baby and you live on no sleep, no one can quite put into words just how taxing that is.  I think the same can be said for potty training.

As we've established, my mother is a very wise woman.  She told me back when Big Sister was potty training that it was highly unlikely that she would go to kindergarten in diapers.  And even less likely that she'd need a change after accepting her high school diploma.  Bottom line: "RELAX!  It'll happen!"

And it did.

And it has again.

And since there are no plans for any other babies in our future (unless God answers Big Sister's prayers for a baby brother), this could be it!!!

And this has to be it for this post, because it's really kind of a challenge to type while doing a cabbage patch in celebration of this momentous occasion...

Congratulations!!!
The first time we went to the grocery store and didn't have to buy diapers was a BIG deal! :)
BTW, beautiful picture of the butterfly!

I soooo agree with you on the potty training thing. It is a HUGE deal. We have been diaper free for 3 years now and I still appreciate every second of it. And yes on the wipes for everyone, including the dog!

I completely understand the happiness you're feeling with this new freedom. I really felt that freedom the first time we went to an amusement park and I didn't have to find change diapers all day.

Beautiful shot of the butterfly.

Your butterfly picture is beautiful and amazing....but quite possibly not as beautiful and amazing as the end of diapers!!!

Congrats!

congrats! I am without a child in diapers for the first time in 15 years. I have successfully filled a landfill all on my own with our human waste filled non biodegradable diapers. But I do still keep wipes here. I don't know how I still go through so many. I can't live without them.

I'm so jealous! I can't wait until the twins are potty trained, so I can be done with diapers forever!

agreed. potty training is a way bigger deal than walking. a couple of weeks ago i finally told G 'no more pull ups!' and she hasn't worn one since. not even to bed. and we've only had three total accidents in 2 weeks. it's glorious!

congrats!

Hooray for no diapers! That is an awesome moment...of course, its even more awesome when they go into a bathroom in a resturaunt, come back with daddy or mommy and announce to the whole restaurant that they went tinkies in the big girl potty all by themselves...yep!

Love the butterfly pic btw!

Yay!!! Congrats on no diapers. Hopefully I face a future full of them, but I'm sure I'll be ready to cheer for "real" underwear!! I like your butterfly picture. It makes me happy that it was enclosed at the zoo. Pretty bugs are still bugs.

Oh man you lucky duck! The diaper-less days are so far away for me. :( Congrats!!!

You are right about the dirty little secret. I tried potty training my little girl, but wasn't successful. She's pretty young, but STILL-- hardest thing in parenthood so far, and it's hardly even begun!

That's great!!

I don't have children yet, of course, but I have worked with children while they are being potty trained and I know how frustrating it is to pick up poop off the ground and wipe it off of their hands after they pick it up. Or to wipe up pee after they peed their pants. Not fun. Congrats!!

I have blocked all memories of potty training. Someone asked me for pointers on how we did it and I honestly have no clue. It must've been painful.

Congratulations! I can't wait for that freedom. I keep telling myself that my son won't be in high school in diapers but I'm beginning to wonder...

The photo is great!

Congrats on the panties. (Hubby really hates that word. Makes us say underwear.)

I'm so glad you AND the husband are out of diapers. It take so long to house train those men, doesn't it?!

Congrats! It is a HUGE deal. Maybe I'll experience this kind of bliss some day...soon...I hope...before I'M back IN diapers! ;p
